Weight Management Programmes

Our practice may get in touch with you if our records suggest you are overweight. Being overweight is a risk factor for many conditions including COVID-19 complications. One of the best ways to lose weight is with support. There are a number of programmes that you may be eligible for referral to:

Website: The NHS Digital Weight Management Programme (if you have diabetes or high blood pressure) 

Website: The NHS Diabetes Prevention Programme (if you have pre-diabetes, or borderline diabetes) 

Be-Active Plus – open to everyone – supported exercise programmes run by Birmingham City Council

Adult weight management

There are many resources online with information and support on losing weight and being more healthy. The NHS Change4life programme has lots of ideas to help families become healthier, including:

  • food facts
  • recipes
  • activities

The NHS weight loss plan can help you lose weight safely, and there are many healthy eating diets to choose from. The online plan provides you with the information, help and support needed to lose weight and keep it off. Includes interactive food and activity diary, calorie tracker, progress monitoring, and formulas well as personal support from an expert.
